The engine is the "heart" of a mobile crusher, and its performance directly determines the crushing capacity, mobility, energy consumption level, and environmental performance of the equipment. Choosing the appropriate engine (such as matching power and emission levels according to the work scenario) is the key to ensuring the efficient and reliable operation of the mobile crusher. In the mobile crusher, the engine plays the role of the core power source, which runs through the entire operation process of the equipment.

1. Provide basic power for equipment operation

Drive the crushing host: The crushing host (such as jaw crusher, cone crusher, counterattack crusher, etc.) is the "core working component" of the mobile crusher. It needs to be driven by the power output of the engine to drive the belt, gear and other transmission systems, so that the moving jaw, rotor and other components inside the crushing chamber can operate at high speed, realizing the squeezing and impact crushing of materials such as ore and construction waste.

Drive auxiliary system operation: In addition to the crushing host, the engine also needs to provide power for auxiliary components such as feeders, screening devices, and conveyor belts. For example, the feeder uniformly feeds the material into the crushing chamber through a motor (powered by the engine), the vibrating motor of the screening device needs to be driven by the engine to achieve graded screening of the material, and the conveyor belt drives the drum to transport the material through the motor.

2. Ensure the mobility flexibility of equipment

The "moving" characteristics of the mobile crusher depend on the walking system of the chassis, and the engine is the power source of the walking system. For example:

Tire type mobile crusher: usually equipped with a diesel engine, it drives the tires through a transmission system to achieve movement in road or off road scenarios, facilitating the transfer of equipment between different work sites and reducing material transportation costs.

Crawler type mobile crusher: The engine drives the hydraulic system, and the tracks are driven by hydraulic motors to move, adapting to complex terrains such as mountains and mud, and meeting the mobility needs of outdoor mining, building demolition, and other scenarios.

3. Affects the efficiency and reliability of equipment operation

Power output stability: The power and torque parameters of the engine directly affect the crushing efficiency. For example, high-power engines can drive larger sized crushing machines with greater processing capacity, making them suitable for large-scale mining operations; Small and medium power engines are suitable for small and medium-sized crushing operations (such as construction waste disposal). If the engine power is insufficient, it may cause a decrease in the speed of the crushing host, material blockage, and affect production efficiency.

Fuel economy and durability: High quality engines (such as Caterpillar, Weichai, and other brands) have efficient fuel combustion technology, which can reduce fuel consumption costs; Meanwhile, its durable mechanical structure can reduce downtime caused by malfunctions and enhance the equipment's ability to operate continuously.

4. Collaborate with intelligent control systems to optimize performance

The engine of modern mobile crushers is often linked with intelligent control systems (such as PLC systems) to achieve dynamic power regulation. For example:

When the material hardness is high, the control system can automatically increase the engine output power and enhance the crushing force; When the material handling capacity decreases, the engine speed can be reduced to save fuel.

Some engines are also equipped with sensors that monitor temperature, oil pressure, and other parameters in real time. Through the control system, faults are alerted to avoid equipment damage caused by engine overheating, lack of oil, and other issues.

5. Compliant with environmental protection and emission requirements

With the upgrading of environmental standards (such as National VI and Euro V emission standards), the emission performance of engines has become an important indicator for mobile crushers. Low emission engines, such as electronic fuel injection diesel engines and hybrid engines, can reduce emissions of pollutants such as nitrogen oxides (NOx) and particulate matter (PM), meet environmental requirements for urban construction waste treatment, mining environmental protection operations, and other scenarios, and avoid equipment limitations caused by non compliant emissions.
